BASIC OPERATION: These polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) overcurrent protection devices offer low resistance when a circuit is operating normally. If an overcurrent or overtemperature condition develops the conductive polymer expands, increasing the resistance of the device causing it to trip. Changes in both ambient temperature and circuit load will cause the device to trip. The device automatically resets when cooled.

FEATURES

  • Ultra-thin: These devices are virtually foil-thin making it easy for them to fit in any application.
  • Operates on temperature rise: Since the device is sensitive to thermal conditions, an overtemperature condition caused by either ambient temperatures or circuit load will cause a fault condition.
  • Cost-Effective: PPTC’s are among the least expensive circuit protection devices available.

  • Integrated weld tabs.
  • Body of device is electrically isolated from circuit current.
